spring day

i've been inspired by the blogs of chris's family and figured my friends and family would like to see what life is like for me, chris and stella (since i am terrible at keeping in touch). so here it is, a first stab at living updates. a little strange, but i'll get use to it. i think. today is the first day of spring and the forecast is calling for snow followed by rain, i figured it's as good of day as any to start. i love alaska.

we are still living in the wall-tent, insulated with 1" blue styrofoam and warmed by a beautiful cast-iron wood stove. winter has been mostly cold, clear and sunny, except when it's snowing. chris works on the shoppe-house and takes care of stella (both keep him really busy), while i spend days at the computer. we're pretty lucky to live and find work in seldovia. in a small town you count your blessings everyday. we have many; a sunny valley with lovely neighbors (and their dogs/cats); wonderful, generous friends who make us laugh (and let us shower and do laundry); all the mountains and ocean we could want; oh and each other. we are a few months from moving into the shoppe-house. how great that will be. once we're in, it will be more space than if you combined all the places we've lived in the last 8 years.
